Many people only know Chen Man from her work as a fashion photographer; however, she’s also a world-renowned visual artist in her own right, using a disctinctive lighting techniques as the bases for her own visual aestehtic.
Chen’s work engages traditional Chinese philosophy and environmental issues, as seen in her collaborative work with cosmetics brand MAC, Love and Water. Chen combines traditional Chinese philosophy with fashion in a manner that is paradoxically both unified and self-contradictory. In “The Philosophy of Images,” Chen will discuss her longstanding engagement with traditional Chinese philosophy and fashion.
