Tao Hui: The Acting Tutorial

2015.8.29
15:30-16:30

Performing Arts
Location:  Long Gallery
Language:  Chinese only

In his recently completed work The Acting Tutorial, thirteen actresses methodically reproducing various extremes of human emotions as a technical exercise. As their exhaustively histrionic enactments crescendo, their artifice slips and the viewer is left at a surreal intersection between performance and horrid reality.

Here Tao Hui recreates this work within the exhibition space, blending daily life with the imaginary. This performance creates a dialogue between the exhibited piece and the performers. Confronting "themselves" as well as a present audience, how will the actresses react within the exhibition space?

Tao Hui warmly welcomes audience members to write scripts proceeding the event to further conversation about on- and off-screen performance.
