IMAGE.OBJECT is an artist workshop to occur across four leading Chinese art schools in 2016, extending John Gerrard’s Summer 2016 exhibition at UCCA. In advance of the lecture and workshops, students will be equipped with technical tools to produce virtual simulations, which emerge from a two part process of producing a 3D scan and importing it into a game engine. The aim of the workshop is to guide students through the multi-step processes inherent in Gerrard's work. Particpants are required to conceive and execute their own simulations. Concepts and finished works will be assessed by John Gerrard and critiqued in the workshop setting. Each workshop concludes with an informal exhibition of completed student works.
