ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

United Nations Rio+20 Beijing Youth Forum—the awards ceremony of the Rio+20 Global Youth Music Contest has two focuses, “The meaning of the UN Rio+20 Earth Summit on the global sustainability”, the other “How would the youth participate in the action of global sustainability?” This forum will be a combination of Model UN Rio+20 Earth Summit, music ceremony and indepth talks between leaders of today and the leaders of tomorrow!

The UN Rio+20 Global Youth Music Concert (GYMC) is a global competition for young people organized on the occasion of UN Rio+20 Earth Summit. It was first sponsored by the IAAI, and its Chinese partner The Youthink Center, together with 40 other international organizations are promoting this music festival. Global Youth Music Contest encourages youth to express their hopes, concerns, and thoughts on the future of our earth by using music. To make their voices heard in the UN Rio+20 Earth Summit.

The Rio+20 Conference will take place in Brazil from 20-22 June 2012, to mark the 20th anniversary of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), in Rio de Janeiro. It is envisaged as a Conference at the highest possible level, including 120 Heads of State and Government. The total number of representatives will be more than 50,000. The Conference will result in a focused political document. UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-moon said this meeting is the most important one in UN history.
