Award-winning filmmaker Gu Tao has spent the last several years exploring life among the Ewenki, an ethnic minority in northeastern China who were forcefully displaced by the government following a ban on hunting in 2003. The Last Moose of Aoluguya is equal parts anthropological field study and intimate portrait of a hunter—and deeply moving, regardless of perspective. This month, UCCA Selects invites director Gu Tao to present his film.
The UCCA Selects series showcases the most recent Chinese art films and productions from overseas. This program will focus on one documentary and one dramatic film each month.
