Independent animator Lei Lei’s unique style blends design, music, drawing, and other multimedia elements. Lei's diverse style of animation and broad range of thematics reflect his expansive artistic interests and aesthetic horizons. For this Art Cinema program, UCCA will show a curated selection of eleven of Lei’s animated films, from the artist's playful creative beginnings to later narratives more epic in scope.
The screening will include a number of Lei’s most recent works, including Ningdu, a historical recreation of the memories of his parents’ generation through hand-made clay sculptures, and Recycling, which reconstructs life in China three decades ago through more than 3,000 photographs.
Lei Lei will attend the screening and discuss his work.
