No Man’s Land
Director: Sean Mathias
Starring: Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart
Category: Theater
Country: United Kingdom
Runtime: 180 min
A popular work of Nobel Price winner and contemporary absurdist playwright, Harold Pinter, No Man’s Land premiered at Wyndham’s Theatre, London, in 1975. Pinter was also later invited to act in the play. This new edition was directed by Sean Mathias, starring “Gandalf” Ian McKellen and “Professor X” Patrick Stewart. These two veteran actors, whose combined age is over 150, were widely praised for their performances during the British tour of the play. No Man’s Land tells the story of two aging writers, Hirst and Spooner, who meet in a Hampstead pub one summer’s evening and end up drinking into the night at Hirst's nearby estate. As the men get more intoxicated, their stories become absurd, and their conversation soon turns into a power game. The situation gets all the more complicated when two younger men return home…

Runtime: 130 min
Victor Frankenstein is a scientist who is deeply absorbed in his unorthodox experiments aimed at creating artificial life. After thousands of trials, he finally creates a hideous creature. Met with cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless creature, increasingly desperate and vengeful, kills Frankenstein’s brother and fiancée. A fight between Frankenstein and the creature results in their deaths. The production was a sell-out hit at the National Theatre in 2011, and has since been praised by over half a million people in cinemas around the world. The Times regards Frankenstein as “a great success in theater.”
