ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

With the arrival of the Dragon Boat Festival, Teacher Ji Chao will hang up wormwood, calamus and eat “Zongzi” together with children, then we’ll play a games like “Untie the rice dumpling”, and “paint on the forehead”, along with braiding multi-colored strings together and praying for peace.

Dragon Boat Festival is on the 5th day of the 5th month in the Lunar calendar. It is also known by other names; Dragon Boat Festival is the traditional festival to commemorate poet Qu Yuan in China. To celebrate, we eat rice dumplings (zongzi), have dragon boat races, hang wormwood and drink hsiung huang. Dragon Boat Festival is a national holiday and is placed on the world Heritage List. There are four origins of the festival, besides Qu Yuan, which others do you know? What kind of poem is associated with the festival? What are the differences between now and the ancient festival? Teacher Ji Chao will enjoy rice dumplings with children and talk about the origins and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival.

In the Zhi-xing Hall series, the teacher will enlighten the children with poems and customs highlighting details of traditional culture, in order to feel the artistry in life.
