2012, Hao Jie, 91 minutes
The Love Songs of Tiedan is two stories in one—the tale of a man preserving a dying art form and a love story between this wandering artist, a mother, and her 3 daughters. The story takes place in China’s remote, poverty-stricken countryside. Witness to the dramatic societal changes of the Culture Revolution and the reform era, the artist’s beloved theatrical form gradually loses popularity, but his passion never ebbs.
