UCCA Beijing

The Enlightenment of Tea, Bamboo, and Music

2015.9.25
14:00-16:00

Performing Arts
Location:  Atrium
Language:  Chinese only

Tea is a beautifully integral part of Chinese culture that has continued to evolve with the times, acquiring a material and spiritual culture all its own. As an important medium in the promotion of Chinese tea culture, the ritual of tea making fosters not only an appreciation for the quality of the tea consumed but also a quality of life for those involved.

UCCA invites collector Ma Weidu and designer Jeff Dayu Shi with ruanqin instrumentalist Feng Mantian to converse with tea, bamboo, and music, creating an exhibit inspired by the lifestyle of traditional Chinese scholars. With a focus on fusing traditional and contemporary techniques in design with bamboo, the trio aim to present a union of old and new, an insightful presentation of contemporary lifestyle.
