UCCA Beijing

Specificity: Book Launch and Forum

2013.3.30
16:30–18:30

Conversation
Location:  UCCA Auditorium
Language:  In Chinese Only

Coming from the exhibition curated by prolific Chinese painter Wang Xingwei and held at UCCA in 2012, SPECIFICITY examines the lives and practices of seven Chinese artists hailing from four cities. Art critic Guo Juan explores the neighborhoods, social circles, and everyday routines of Zhang Wuyun, Wang Xingjie, Zhan Yingxiang, Xia Guanglong, Zhang Shujian, Wen Ling, and Liu Weijian in a search for the crucial “specificity” that defines their work.

At this book launch and forum, Wang Xingwei and Guo Juan invite key artists from the book and the exhibition to join them in talks, sharing some inside stories and opinions, and making some specific responses to some specific issues.
