Screening and Discussion of Cotton

2015.4.18
13:30-16:00

Cinema Arts
Location:  UCCA Art Cinema
Language:  Chinese Only

Cotton aims at telling the story behind China’s textile industry by observing those people who have been closely linked to the 5,000 km-long cotton industry chain. Taking cotton as the cue, this film records how these people complete the step-by-step process of “Made in China.”

In 2014, Cotton won the Taiwan Golden Horse Award for Best Documentary, and in 2015 it won Image China—Chinese Documentary Academy Award for Best Cinematography.

UCCA has invited the director Zhou Hao, Professor Cui Yanhu (Xinjiang Normal University), Ding Li (Shenzhen Firefly Worker Service Centre), and Oxfam program managers Liu Yuan and Wang Yingyu to discuss and share the stories behind Cotton after a screening of the film.
