Compiled by Gerald C. Gross, Editors on Editing is a selection of 38 essays by some of America’s most distinguished editors. The collection contains articles on the evolution of the American editor; the ethical and moral dimensions of editing; what an editor looks for in a query letter, proposal, and manuscript; line editing; copyediting; the freelance editor; the question of political correctness; making the most of writers’ conferences; and numerous other topics. For this Reading Salon, three distinguished experts in the Chinese publishing industry will lead a discussion on the ever-changing editing industry. Topics include the nature of editing, professional accomplishments, how to choose topics, manuscript editing, and how to produce a best-seller.
