Over the past decade, Scandinavian films have featured prominently at many top international film festivals. Academy Award for Best Documentary winner Searching for Sugar Man and Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival winner The Act of Killing have sparked a wave international interest in Northern European cinema. In their sixth year of collaboration, the Nordic Documentary Film Festival (NORDOX) and UCCA will select fifteen documentaries from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland for a week-long festival. All of this year’s features will deal with cinematic depictions of renowned creative professionals. To complement the screenings, UCCA has organized a forum on Nordic cinema and Q & A sessions with the films’ directors. The festival will mark the China debut of all of the featured films, giving audiences a taste of the newest in Nordic film culture.
