In recent years, Brazil’s domestic arts institution shave grown at an outstanding pace. Contemporary art in particular has played a key role in the development of Brazil's cultural sector.

For the last 3 years, Currents– Art and Music has invited contemporary artists and musicians of international repute to Beijing for its residency program. This year, Currents has invited eight artists from Brazil to participate in the program and create works for the first exhibition of Brazilian contemporary art in Beijing.

On September 7^th, Brazil’s Independence Day, two of the eight invited artists will give a presentation on their practice in the context of contemporary Brazilian culture.

Rodrigo Bivar is a contemporary artist from Brazil.He lives and works in São Paulo.

In his practice, contemporary artist Marcelo Moschetacollects rocks with of different mineral properties, shapes, and colorsfrom the border of Uruguay and Brazil, tagging them and endowing them with individual identities.

Sarina Tang (director and curator of CURRENTS - Art and Music)

CURRENTS - Art and Music is a contemporary art and music organization has founded by Shanghai-born Sarina Tang. Tang is an art historian and curator with extensive experience in the international art community.
