About the Film

Directed by Chris Marker, Sans Soleil is an essay-film/travelogue on the nature of human memory, narrated by a woman reading letters supposedly sent by the cameraman Sandor Krasna. Visiting places as disparate as Japan and Guinea-Bissau, Chris Marker's classic takes the viewer on a world tour that is actually a tour of his own world view.
