UCCA has invited Gu Yongqi, founder of Yongqi Furniture, to give a talk on the use of prestressing techniques in traditional Chinese hardwood furniture. Organizer of the lecture and renowned architect Yung Ho Chang will then join Gu to discuss the spirit of traditional craftsmanship.
As the founder of Yongqi Furniture, Gu Yongqi incorporates both folk elements and global trends into his furniture designs.
Yung Ho Chang is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the chief architect of Atelier FCJZ, and the founder of the Peking University Graduate Center of Architecture. He was formerly the director of the Department of Architecture at MIT. He is now a professor at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University.
