Synopsis:

Accompanied by their taciturn and indifferent Russian polar bear guard, the Denmark band Efterklang goes on an audio treasure hunt in the empty buildings of the abandoned town, while the narrator, former Piramida citizen Alexander, takes us back to a bygone era when Piramida flourished and the immigrant Russian miners and their families lived in a parallel Soviet society far from the brutal reality of their homeland.

Director Bio:

Born in 1979 in Denmark. A graduate in documentary direction from the National Film School of Denmark, 2009, and in sociology from Copenhagen University, 2004. Since 2001, he has worked as director, cinematographer, and editor of documentary films, and has made films in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

Koefoed's films have won him awards at numerous festivals, including Tribeca, Silverdocs, Full Frame, Sheffield Doc/Fest, and CPH:DOX. His films have been selected for IDFA and received several nominations at the festival. Koefoed made his first feature-length documentary Ballroom Dancer in co-direction with Christian Bonke.
