2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the death of world-renowned Japanese film director Yasujiro Ozu. To celebrate his contributions to filmmaking, screenwriter and Central Academy of Drama professor Shi Hang will deliver a lecture on Ozu’s distinctive interest in simple stories and common people. Shi will also discuss Ozu’s only collection of essays I Run a Tofu Shop, and I Only Make Tofu, which was recently published by New Classic Culture Co., Ltd. The book provides insight into Yasujiro Ozu’s style and the stories behind classic works like Tokyo Story, The Flavor of Green Tea over Rice and others.
