While appreciating the artworks of a museum, has it ever occurred to you that the same amount of time and energy has gone into making the museum space, its architecture, as unique as its collection?
Completed last year, the art center Fondation Louis Vuitton, located in the Jardin d’Acclimatation of Paris’s Bois de Boulogne park, commands attention. Designed by American architect Frank Gehry, the building’s concept is derived from the Palmarium, built on the site in 1893 and subsequently demolished in 1934. Whimsical in its asymmetry, Gehry’s “iceberg” consists of an astonishing 3,600 latticed panels and 19,000 fiber-reinforced concrete plates and has garnered the approval of critics and the public alike.
A longtime sponsor of UCCA, the LV Fondation has invited our members for an exclusive guided tour of the exhibition commemorating the completion of the Fondation Louis Vuitton at the China World Shopping Mall West Building. A chartered bus will take members from UCCA to the exhibition.
