Mirrors provide us with an opportunity to make a distinction between the real thing and a reflected object. Which is closer to the truth? Duchamp was skeptical about all kinds of representation. For him, a urinal could be a fountain; a nude could be a machine. Duchamp in the I-Ching Mirror, a Guangdong Dance Festival project, explores what Duchamp might see were he to look into the I-Ching. In this lecture and video presentation, a selection of dance highlights involving mirror work will be shown, with attendees invited to muse further on the question of illusion and reality.
