UCCA is proud to present a night of classical chamber music from Chinese saxophonist Hanchao Jiang, French violist and bayan accordionist Guillaume Leroy and French pianist Marina di Giorno.
The first part of the concert will focus on duets. Bach’s Sonata for Flute & Harpsichord and Bartok’s Romanian Dances will be played with saxophone and bayan accordion, followed by Piazzolla’s Le Grand Tango played with viola and piano. In the second half, the trio will perform three works of varying styles, including Schumann’s Märchenerzählungen (Fairy Tales), Debussy’s Sonata for Flute, Viola & Harp and Russell Peterson’s Trio for Viola, Saxophone & Piano.

Hanchao Jiang is a Chinese classical saxophonist born in Shanghai in 1988. He started studying classical saxophone at age eleven, and in 2006, he attended the National Conservatory of Music, Saint-Etienne in France to study under the guidance of Professor Daniel Cochet. In 2008, he entered the Geneva Superior Conservatory of Music in Switzerland under Professor Philippe Collet. In 2010 and 2012, he received his bachelor's degree and master's degree respectively in music performance from the Geneva conservatory.
Marina Di Giorno is a French pianist born in Toulouse in 1989. At 14, she earned a diploma in piano performance from the National Conservatory of Music, Montpellier and the National Conservatory of Music, Marseilles. She then attended the National Superior Conservatory of Music, Paris under Professor Bruno Rigutto to study piano. During this period, she also studied chamber music under Claire Desert, Ami Flammer, Yovan Markovich and Marc Coppey. She later earned a master’s degree in chamber music performance from the National Superior Conservatory and a second master’s degree in solo performance from the Geneva Superior Conservatory of Music.
Guillaume Leory is a French violist, violinist and bayan accordionist born in Epernay in 1982. When he was 6 years old, he started to learn bayan accordion under Max Bonnay. Guillaume began to study violin when he was 8 and viola after that. In 2003, he entered the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and continued to learn violin under the guidance of MiroslavRoussine, a student of the famed David Oistrakh. In 2010, he attended the Geneva Superior Conservatory of Music under Japanese master violist Nobuko Imai, receiving his master’s degree in solo performance in 2012.
