Doll designers have a lot of “happy responsibilities” designing playmates for people. After years of working as a clothing designer, Cheng Deqing decided to switch over to researching dolls, and designed many sophisticated “Do Ideas” dolls. In this lecture, Cheng will share with us his experience of designing dolls over the years, how he overcame restraints, and how to achieve cross-border collaborations with other industries and institutions.

Cheng Deqing, clothing designer and doll designer,started to work on experimental designs of artistic dolls, combining fashion and sculpture to explore design possibilities in the art of making dolls. Using original design creativity to restore the value and status of non-traditional doll-making, he formed his own toy design language.
From 2008 – 2009 he created the brands “Blackpudding” and “Do Ideas”
