ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

In 2012, the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (BIAD) cooperates with Ullens Center for Contemporary Art to hold the “China New Design Series: UCCA&BIAD China New Design Special Recruitment” project. It will be divided three stages: selection, creation and exhibition.
“China New Design Series:UCCA&BIAD China New Design Special Recruitment” will present a ”domain” in which you can see the creative spark of design, and hear the language of design communicate with other art forms.

All the candidates will join in 5 workshops and then we are going to pick out 4 designers from among them as team members. In 2013, the 4 selected designers need to finish a special team piece after they come back from an overseas design trip.

The selection stage will be open to all those engaged in or focused on design. Based on architectural design, combined with graphic design, performance art and graphic art, the project will illustrate the relationship with other fields and reveal independent innovation. At the same time, to express their social function, BIAD and UCCA will supply a professional stage for these people. We hope there can be more and more institutions or groups focusing on the new generation of Chinese designers.
