ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

On October 28, 2011, 7 P.M., artist BoMu's Live-Art Work #1: Eternity of Being Lost was executed at the Shanghai Rockbund Art Museum. This was not just a quiet visual arts revolution, perhaps a day which marks the birth of Lostism.

On-site, artist BoMu spread a new and improved photographic emulsion of his own invention (which is pH neutral, safe, and non-corrosive) on physical human bodies. He then “developed” and enlarged photographic images on the body, this part we can understand as “installing scaffold”. After he immediate cleaning up the images, this “negative process” maybe just finished “removing scaffold”. The process was carried out in simultaneity with the artwork's on-site auction. The artwork is comprised of four processes: the artist's on-site implementation, its momentary preservation, its erasure, and its sale and collection. It is the artist's reincarnation through visual language. What the art collectors collected was pure “feeling” (an intangible work of art), thereby, the “sublime affirm” of this artwork were realized.

ABOUT OUR GUEST

BoMu, birth name – Gao Bo(artist)
In 1987, after graduating from the Institute of Fine-Arts at Tsighua University, he rented a room behind Peking University and started his “Wandering Days.” At the start of the ‘90s, this area was built up into what was known as the Yuanmingyuan artist village. Documentary Bumming in Beijing was made around that time, and captured those “days of bumming.” In 1990, he moved to France. In 1998, created Bo STUDIO and lived in Beijing Shangyuan Artiste Village by now. Bomu’s Major works are mainly Mixed Media, New Media, Live-art and Pre-theater (Ready-made Theater).
My purpose is for photography to be regarded as equal to the other arts. ——BoMu
