ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

In the last China New Design Series Program in July, Designer Song Tao will discuss how we can apply our designs to day-to-day life. Nowadays, Chinese designers begin to reflect on design trends and style and address the current key issue; to cater for customers and penetrate the market.

ABOUT OUR GUEST

Song Tao, born in Shanghai in 1969, majored in Graphic Design and Drawing at National University of Art and Design. In 1993, Song obtained his master’s degree in plastic arts at Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University. In 1994, Song returned to China and established TAO Gallery which staged exhibitions for many outstanding artists. In 1995, Song set up Song Tao Design Studio dedicated to design services such as furniture design, interior design, exhibition design and relative services. In 2002, Song opened up his own brand store (Self-made Company), selling the artworks of excellent domestic artists and designers. In 2007, Song founded the art exhibition institution named SAY FINE ART in famous 798 Art Zone in Beijing, which was dedicated to the recreation of Traditional Chinese handicrafts. In 2008, Song initiated and formed China Furniture Designer Brand Alliance. In 2009, Song founded O-GALLERY to serve as an agent for world’s class design brands and set up a communication platform for designers at home and abroad.

Song’s design works tend to choose wood, metal and acrylic as raw materials and showcase great plastic arts and vitality in traditional Chinese culture.
