These lectures will review the history of the Chinese typeface industry, provide an introduction to the foreign typeface industry, and discuss the current situation and existing problems confronted by the Chinese industry as well as the outlook for its future.

Huang Xuejun, born on January 8th, 1969, graduated from the automatic microcomputer applications department of Beijing Union University’s College of Light Industry and Building Materials, and has worked at Beijing Founder Electronics Co., Ltd. since 1991. He has worked in typeface design in the position of product manager and product market director, and was involved in the development of a Song font for the Hong Kong Daily News, the planning of a Liberal Arts Song font, and the refining of the Lanteen Black series and Absolute Black typefaces. He is now the vice general manager of the fonts department of Beijing Founder Electronics Co., Ltd.
