The UCCA Children’s Reading Workshop Series is presented in cooperation with Poplar, Japan’s largest children’s book publisher. This is a wonderful opportunity for kids and parents to enjoy UCCA’s latest exhibitions and hear authors, illustrators and expert storytellers read wonderful stories and books.

Children’s Reading Workshop Series 5: A Happy New Year’s Family Reunion!

For Chinese families, the Lunar New Year is a time of reunion, a special time when family members living or working far away return to their hometowns to celebrate Spring Festival.

In UCCA’s Children’s Reading Workshop Series 5, we will revisit Liu Xiaodong’s Hometown Boy exhibition to learn more about his diaries, his family and his old family photos. Then we will read two heartwarming stories about Chinese New Year – Reunion and The Big Happy Table – and make paintings of unforgettable happy holiday memories for the whole family!
