ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

Anthony Browne, a boy aged 5 to 6 who used to narrate stories to others in his father’s inn, has grown into a British illustrated book master. In 2000, he won the Hans Christian Andersen Award, the equivalent to the Noble Prize for Illustrated books. Anthony excels at comic creation and imagination and surrealism characterizes his works, evoking reader’s marvelous feelings of finding treasures.

Lin Jing is an early literacy promoter. In 1998, Lin developed an interest in illustrated books after studying in Japan. In 2002, Lin was engaged in early literacy promotion by making the most of precious child rearing and teaching experiences after returning to China. Recently, Lin has held activities such as story-telling sessions at early education centers, libraries, and parents’ salon and specialized in illustrated book translation at the same time. Lin’s representative works include Brother Eggs (Nanhai Press), Little Shoes, Take a Walk and Faces, Various Faces (Shanghai Juvenile and Children’s Publication House), etc.
Beijing Poplar Picture Book Store is a subsidiary of Japan Poplar Publishing Co., Ltd. in Beijing China which was founded in July 2004 and specializes in illustrated books for children. We are committed to bringing out best children’s books and creating relaxed reading environment for little readers and families, holding various early literacy activities at our book store, giving illustrated book lessons and providing up-to-date information related to early literacy.
Artistic works created by masters deserve perusal. Children’s Reading Workshop Master Series is designed to introduce top illustrated book masters in the world and lead children and parents to appreciate artistic masterpieces, explore art world and derive inspirations.UCCA and Beijing Poplar Picture Book Store jointly launched the Children’s Reading Workshop Master Series Program, a kind of novel children-parents reading program. In the program, reading specialists will select suitable illustrated books for children in the light of exhibition theme and share them with families. As a result, children can sit down and ponder on what arts bring to our inner world after dynamic visual experience. Through static and dynamic interaction, children can enjoy a favorable opportunity to appreciate artistic works and explore art world.
