From July 18 to October 18, 2026, UCCA Clay Museum presents “Raw Modernism: Accolay Clay Today,” centering on the ceramics produced by the Accolay workshops in France from the late 1940s to the late 1980s. The exhibition places this historical body of work in dialogue with contemporary artistic practices from diverse cultural contexts,  revisits the spirit of creative freedom embodied in Accolay ceramics and its continuing influence on contemporary ceramic practices. It invites audiences to consider the experimental possibilities of ceramics at the intersection of art, craft, and design.

On August 8, UCCA will be inviting exhibiting artist Ou Ming to lead a plaster workshop. Ou Ming uses plaster and ceramic as his primary artistic media. Drawing from the artist’s own creative methodology, participants will work with plaster, pigments, water, and everyday materials to explore how an artwork gradually takes shape. Through the process of creation, participants will experience the malleability and sensitivity of plaster as a medium. As the material solidifies, permeates, covers, and transforms, they will consider how an artwork emerges through the interplay of time, material, and the maker’s choices.
