The rebuilding of Chinese contemporary life style, the connotation of Chinese contemporary spirit’s value, the industry of Chinese ethnic art’s inheritance and re-design…nowadays, these related topics have been paid much more attention and become more realistic. The Seven Examples of Contemporary Ethnic Handicraft Design forum is hosted by “Show the World” Culture-based Development Goodwill Action for Ethnics in China, together with Beijing International Design Week. Seven representatives who applied themselves to the career of Chinese contemporary ethnic handicraft design are invited to share their experiences and cases in the area. It will discuss from different angles, such as design, industry, sales, creative culture investment, practicant, media and public, about finding the new path to the sustainable development of modern ethnic handicraft design industry, as well as the interact between ethnic handicraft and modern design, based on the respect and heritage of ethnic art tradition.
“Show the World” has always been developing and protecting ethnic handicrafts and music culture. Two forums were held continuously and created great influence in the field. This year in 2012, “Show the World” cooperates with Beijing International Design Week once more. It is hoped that through the combination of heritage and modern design, the industry of Chinese ethnic handicraft would be restored and affected, meanwhile to change the life style and consumption concept of modern China.
The forum will use modern technology methods as live via internet and multi-media interaction to involve larger part of the public in the discussion and practice.
