“How to Apply for International Artist Residencies” will provide practical information and resources from seasoned artists in a comprehensive overview on writing resumes and artist statements. Drawing from outstanding samples, the lecture’s aim is to assist artists in the creation of proposals that are sure to catch the attention of overseas artist residencies.

Several Beijing-based artists that have participated in international residencies will share their personal experiences of living and creating abroad.

The lecture will provide a wealth of information, including a list of 1,000 artist residencies, an overview of application procedures, tips for writing impressive resumes and artist statements, and suggestions for compiling clear and appropriate portfolios based on a residency’s background. With professional and thorough guidance, Chinese artists can explore a greater number of channels and utilize international resources to work abroad while organizing international exchanges and exhibitions. By overcoming language barriers, artists can devise feasible proposals and enhance their confidence in applying for overseas grants for creative exchanges.
