“Some New Remarks Concerning Marcel Duchamp” is an extension of Alain Badiou’s 2007 New York lecture, in which the philosopher analyzed different periods in Duchamp’s practice to reexamine questions fundamental to the theory of art: What is a readymade? What is an artwork? What is art? What does the artist do?

Alain Badiou is a professor emeritus of philosophy, formerly chair of philosophy at the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) and professor of philosophy at the European Graduate School and Collège International de Philosophie.
