This May, UCCA welcomes a stunning installation by artist Li Hui, whose “light sculptures” constructed of lasers, LED panels, smoke, mist, transparent acrylic, stainless steel and ready-made objects have captivated audiences at home and abroad.

Li Hui is a master of atmospherics: his works radiate an aura of Eastern mysticism, and allow intimate, intuitive, poetic spaces for contemplation. For his exhibition in the UCCA Nave, the artist combines light, fog and a bank of red lasers that reflect off a mirror on the floor to form a large “V” shape…hinting, perhaps, that everything in the cosmos has an equal and opposite number, every action a logical reaction, and every energy a natural complement.
