Korakrit’s Life/Cycle
Sans Soleil

Korakrit’s Life/Cycle, held throughout the exhibition “Korakrit Arunanondchai: 2558,” puts the artist’s work in conversation with films that have inspired him, allowing audiences to explore connections through which much of his work is derived. In this series of screenings, we investigate themes of mortality, temporality, cyclicality, and identity.

About the Film

Directed by Chris Marker, Sans Soleil is an essay-film/travelogue on the nature of human memory, narrated by a woman reading letters supposedly sent by the cameraman Sandor Krasna. Visiting places as disparate as Japan and Guinea-Bissau, Chris Marker’s classic takes the viewer on a world tour that is actually a tour of his own world view.
